      WINEMAKER NOTES

      The 2018 Ancient Vines Zinfandel shows ripe fruit flavors and soft tannins, which make this a mouth-coating rich vintage. Aging on new and used oak has lent this wine a subtle vanilla quality that is nicely complemented by explosive fruit notes.Accompany this wine with slow-cooked BBQ pork, chicken mole or spinach mushroom casserole.

      The fruit for this ripe red came from dry-farmed, head-pruned grapevines planted over a century ago in the Contra Costa County AVA, which is situated directly east of the San Francisco Bay and is part of the Central Coast AVA. Bright, ripe wild strawberry engages with cinnamon-spiced cedar as tomato leaf and iron round out the plush and bold textural profile with an underlying grace. – Tasting Panel 91pts
